Press Release via the good folks at Fan Duel,
Twitter Fuels Growth in New Fantasy Football Game
Thanks to celebrities like Oprah and Ashton Kutcher, Twitter has become a household name this year, and with the start of the football season, fantasy football is proving to be a hot topic there. People are tweeting advice on drafts, sharing breaking player news, asking for tips – and even playing fantasy football games on Twitter!
A brand new daily fantasy sports game, FanDuel.com, has taken advantage of the vast marketing opportunities that Twitter offers and has been using it to promote their new weekly fantasy football game (http://www.fanduel.com/fantasyfootball). FanDuel lets you draft a new fantasy football team at any time during the season from the football players playing that week, and pitch it head-to-head against an opponent – a friend, twitter follower or another FanDuel player – for real money. The player whose fantasy team has scored the most fantasy points by the end of Sunday’s games wins the cash prize.
As a special promotional feature, FanDuel are running a mini version of their weekly fantasy football game right now on Twitter – you simply have to tweet your top RB, WR & QB for this weeks football games with #fanduel in your tweet and a link to their promo page – http://bit.ly/tweetball – and the tweeter with the most fantasy points this week wins $100. The results are announced each week via FanDuel’s twitter account (www.twitter.com/fanduel).
FanDuel offers free and paid entry games with users able to enter $5, $10 and $25 competitions.
Intriguing concept. Fantasy sports is a billion dollar a year industry and Twitter itself has seen astronomical growth over the past year. Combining the two seems like it could be a pretty profitable concept…for the company, and for the players themselves.

Twitter is the newest craze today. i tweet at least 5 times a day on my friends just to keep them informed about my whereabouts. I still keep my personal blog though.
I like this idea. Fanasty sports are the big money maker these days. Finding ways to leverage this already super popular game is the way to go. Twitter has so much potential for so many things. It’s use is really just limited to you imagination.
