August 13, 2010

Oregon soccer has come up with one of the most interesting promotions I’ve had the pleasure of seeing or hearing about.

Limited edition scarves, which double as season tickets for the 2010 season.

The Ducks, which will play 10 home matches in 2010, begin the season at home against Boise State on August 20th.

The scarves will be available for $30.00, and will only be sold online (goducks.com) until August 19th.  The scarf literally acts as the ticket, allowing fans to enter the games.

And to top it off, UO soccer is having a special Appreciation Day for ticket holders on August 19th.  Fans are allowed to watch the team’s final pre-season practice, meet with players and coaches, get autographs…and pick up their scarves (I wonder how they gain admittance?)

For everyone hoping to buy a scarf but unable to make it to the Ducks home games? Have no fear, the scarves will be on sale for $40 during the Ducks home opener on August 20th.

Like I said earlier, very clever promotion from Oregon; season ticket holders not only get their season tickets, but get to show their team spirit at every game.

Wonder if we’ll see more teams do something like this in the future (i.e. wouldn’t it be cool if the Steelers gave some sort of commemorative terrible towel for season ticket holders?)

My only question would be…what happens if I lose my scarf?
