As P&G continues their heavy tie-in with the 2012 Olympic games, they’ve announced that they’ve added Team USA gymnast Jordyn Wieber as a P&G beauty ambassdor. Wieber, who joins 2008 Silver medalist Alicia Sacramone in the same role, is expanding her partnership with P&G, as the company already is a sponsor of Team USA throughout the 2012 games.
“As a girl who uses P&G Beauty brands like Olay, COVERGIRL and Pantene every day, I couldn’t be more excited about this partnership,” said Wieber. “I am thankful for P&G Beauty’s support as I continue to pursue my dream of becoming an Olympian.”
As an ambassador, Wieber will help to support P&G Beauty’s $400,000 pledge to support various youth sports programs across the country. Sacramone, who spoke about the pledge at a P&G event in May,
“I’m proud to be partnering with P&G’s Beauty brands in their effort to support youth sports,” says Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Silver Medalist Alicia Sacramone. “With gymnastics being a sport comprised of such young athletes, my team and I understand first hand how important youth sports organizations are. The sense of camaraderie and value of a team’s unconditional support gives young women the confidence they need to thrive, as it does for us while we train and compete.”
In addition to her partnership with P&G Beauty, Wieber will also support P&G’s popular “Thank you, Mom” campaign, which highlights various Olympians and the mothers that helped that support them as they compete for Olympic gold.
“We are thrilled to align with such a young talented athlete who continues to inspire her peers to achieve their personal best,” says Gina Drosos, Group President, P&G Beauty. “Hearing that Jordyn relies on her favorite P&G Beauty brands like COVERGIRL and Olay for all of her big moments, whether it is a competition or prom, is a true testament of our commitment to help women face the world with confidence. We’re proud to support her as she continues her Olympic Games journey.”
Wieber, and all of the other US Olympians will begin their quest for Olympic gold, July 27th.
