Atlanta Falcon’s Savior, Byron Leftwich?

Posted on September 17th, 2007. Written by Emmett Jones.

Chris Mortensen of ESPN is reporting that the Falcons are in talks with former Jags QB Byron Leftwich, about potentially bringing him to the team to….be the third string QB. I understand that Petrino has a fairly complicated offense and everything, but right now the Falcons are 0-2, Joey Harrington has a QB rating of 74.1 and he’s already been sacked 13 times (no, this isn’t all because of the offensive line…in that game against Jacksonville, Harrington was holding onto the ball way too long at times).

I know that if the Falcons sign Leftwich he will need time to learn the playbook, but I hope that, if he’s signed, he will get some reps with the 1st string offense. Being named the 3rd string QB implies always seems to imply that the QB will be working with the 2nd and 3rd string offenses, and Leftwich, if the plan is to have him play anytime soon, will need to start developing a rhythm with the Falcons wide receivers (haha! who am i kidding, i just mean Alge Crumpler) if the Falcons offense is to have any success this year, sans Joey Harrington.

As mentioned previously, Byron Leftwich’s agent is Tom Condon of Creative Artists Agency.

  1. Must…get…Gatorade…NOW! Sounds like Durant and his advisors are pushing all the right buttons early on…now if they can get Seattle to keep the team there. I for one would love to see OK-City get a squad, but not at the expense of Expressoville.

  2. great move by Durant and his team and I also liked the EA Sports commercial with Arenas.

  3. This works out great for KD. Not only is Durant getting some cha-ching $$$ from it, but also benefiting from “following the footsteps” of basketball’s past and present stars.

  4. Rumor has it, when KD was approached by Adidas to sign with them.. He said Ill pass.. Ive been wearing Nike since I was a kid.. Now that was impressive..
