Question: What do you get for the guy who has everything? Answer: A starting QB position in the NFL. With the Cleveland Browns re-signing Superstar (maybe? possibly? wait and see?) QB Derek Anderson to a 3-year $24 million dollar contact, it looks like Brady Quinn is set to become the most endorsed back-up player in the history of all sports. Is Kyle Orton seeing any of that Hummer endorsement money? Does Charlie Batch have any chance of ever being in a Subway commercial with Jared? Does Brodie Croyle even know what EAS stands for? No. No. and No…or, maybe on that last one. The point is that reputable companies are paying Brady Quinn money to endorse their product…and he’s sitting on the bench. I think I’d take that job in a heartbeat. On the other hand, I don’t know the length of the endorsement deals, but I know that if he doesn’t throw more than 8 passes this season? He’ll be endorsing as many products as yours truly. If Quinn does stay with the Browns as a back-up during these next couple of years, I think we’ll all be witnessing the greatest “endorsement bust” in the history of sports (excluding Michael Vick’s endorsement of dog collars, Barry Bonds endorsement of “one-size fits all” fitted hats, Roger Clemens endorsement of Lidocane, and Bush’s endorsement of John McCain (zing!).)

Brady Quinn. The “best” clipboard holder in the NFL. And most likely there is someone else doing that better.
I was hoping we wouldn’t sign Derek, but I guess the front office thinks they can compete big next year. I don’t buy it. We beat ONE winning team and lost to Pitt twice, next year we face 9 winning teams.
I love sportsdiva’s line – I’m sure he’s at least second on the league’s depth chart of best clipboard holder. And I’m thinkin’ he’ll be “holding his own” for a long time to come.
What’s mindboggling about all this is that Brady was– what?– a late first-rounder, 22nd overall or something. Since when do late first rounders get endorsement deals outside of the local car dealership? Especially ones who will be riding the bench the first four years of their career. Amazing. I knew I should have continued to pursue my professional football career trajectory.
