Madden ’09 Cover Athlete: Brett Favre
On David Letterman, it was just announced that Brett Favre will be the cover athlete on the Madden 2009 Box Cover. Yes. That Brett Favre, the one who retired. What does this do for the Madden Curse? Is Brett Favre gonna pull a muscle while gardening? Or is the situation one where if you’re on the cover now, you stay healthy, but have to retire by the time training camp starts? Does this mean Matt Stover is the cover athlete for 2010? As for the game itself? expect some roster updates, and…uh…EA Sports, can you help me out?
…vast visual improvements to the graphics of Madden NFL 09 in a new weather comparison screenshot. In Madden NFL 09 you’ll see deeper snow on the fields, with dramatic accumulation and realistic wear from play. Player’s footsteps will leave imprints, snow will be piled on the sidelines and the yardage lines will be shoveled, just like in a real game.
You’ll have to go to the site yourself to see the pictures. So, lets review. Brett Favre is the cover athlete, there are basically no new features…I think I’ll keep it conservative and estimate sales at 2 billion dollars. Of course, once EA signed their exclusive deal allowing them to monopolize the use of NFL players, the only thing surprising about Madden 2009 was the cover artist.
…but Brett Favre? really?

Sports Business Digest: EA Sports…It’s in the game. Again. Crap.

I would bet right now that Chad Pennington ends up as the starter in Minnesota
Or Detrit since they love mediocre talent at every position
Great post. Forgot about the Madden Curse playing into all this. You covered all the bases on this topic. The national economy will suffer another blow from all the people now put out of work, all the service folks who won’t get extra tips and fees, etc. from all the media covering this “never-ending-story” in multiple locations…that is finally ending.
Gretzky to LA. Gretzky is still the best player ever to play hockey and was in his prime. I don’t know of a bigger trade in any sport. If you’re just talking football it’s very big.
Hey now the Jets might win 6 games this year
I along with Emmett pretty much refused to watch ESPN while all the drama was unfolding. Pennington was a steal for the rebuilding Dolphins franchise. Though injury prone, he still holds the pass completion percentage record. My only question is who is he going to throw to in Miami.. Just a random thought..
