Tiger Woods. He’s better than you.
Is there anything that Tiger Woods can’t do? I seriously doubt it. He spent the summer winning that “Awesome!” ESPN
tournament “Who’s Now?”, he welcomed the birth of his daughter, he got to see yours truly when he played in the U.S. Open, he’s working out that new gatorade licensing deal…That’s on top of his endorsement deals with Nike, Buick, Tag Heuer, Accenture, Gillette, and Electronic Arts. And yes, apparently, he plays golf. Quite well, apparently.
On Tuesday, Tiger Woods was named the 2008 PGA Tour’s Player of the year for the third consecutive year, and the ninth time in 11 years. So, what did Woods do this year?
Woods, 31, won seven times in 2007, including the PGA Championship, his 13th major championship title, and captured the inaugural FedExCup. In addition, his season was highlighted by wins in two World Golf Championships events, and he closed by winning two of the four events in the first-ever PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup and four of his final five starts overall.
Woods also took home the Arnold Palmer trophy (most money won, with $10,867,052) and the Byron Nelson trophy (awarded to the player with lowest scoring average; Woods’ scoring average was 67.79, the lowest average in PGA tour history).
In 2008, look for Tiger to run for president, solve the problem of global hunger, and build a time machine. Oh, did I mention that, just based off of his golf pension (and a few Fed Ex Cup wins), he’s going to retire a billionaire?
Tiger Woods is any sports agent’s dream client. He’s popular, personable, and good at what he does. The one guy who actually gets to live the dream? That’s Mark Steinberg of IMG.
