What I read this week.
The Sports Blogging world is pretty busy. So, as many other sites do, I decided to mention a few stories that maybe weren’t in the mainstream media, but that seemed pretty interesting to me.
– The Broncos resigned WR Brandon Stokley to a three year contract extension (details were not disclosed). Stokley, who became the Broncos #1 receiver after a season-ending injury to Javon Walker, has caught 39 passes for 614 yards and four touchdowns this season. Stokley is represented by Rick Smith of Priority Sports and Entertainment.
–Jason Peck looked at Facebook’s new beacon system, and how Facebook might have overstepped their boundaries and invaded their users privacy and how sports brands can learn from Facebook’s mistake in their own marketing schemes.
–Ever want to be the general manager of a professional sports team? Well, over at Sports Biz, there was an article about a hockey team being 100% owned by the fans. Pretty crazy right? Go check it out. (call me when we’re fans are trying to buy football teams)
–Steve McNair is involved in the strangest lawsuit I’ve ever read about…Girl-on-Girl rape. I’m not even going to bother getting into the details, but its over at the Big Lead.
–A good post over at Sports Agent Blog, dealing with violence in sports and whether or not on-field violence should evade legal action. Very interesting read.
–Over at the NFL Players Association website, they have a listing of football players doing good deeds throughout the holiday season…Good to see athletes making some positive press, no?
