Stuck in America and longing to watch Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy in the Showdown of the Century? Spondo has you covered.
Australian-based Spondo is a start-up company that provides a proprietary platform that allows people to publish and syndicate their content across various digital networks. Spondo and its distribution partner Golf.com.au will stream the one-day golf event which will be held at Lake Jin Sha International Golf Club in Beijing. Spondo’s online broadcast is the only way to see the event outside of China. Spondo Founder and CEO, Geoff Collinson on the event,
“This will be one of the year’s highlight events in the world of golf. The current World #1 and #2, playing in this format for the first time in the history of world rankings is something not to be missed.” Mr. Collinson added, “We and our partners at www.golf.com.au are delighted to have secured the rights to such a prominent sporting event.”
Spondo has partnered with several major news websites — Heraldsun.com.au and Dailytelegraph.com.au among others — to allow viewers more chances to access the event. The whole situation is very intriguing from the broadcast perspective. With broadcasters becoming increasingly aware that viewers are tuning out standard broadcasts for DVR’s, mobile devices and the internet, Spondo seemingly has a golden opportunity; being the only “broadcaster” of the event, in America.
Woods and McIlroy’s first-ever two-man tournament will take place next Monday.
