As the launching of legal sports betting nears in the state, the Montana Lottery Commission has established the sports that will be available for wagering, as well as the types of wagers that will be available.
Betting will be offered on basketball, baseball, hockey, football, soccer, tennis, boxing and mixed martial arts, golf and motor sports. Both professional and college sports will be available for wagering.
Sports Bet Montana will permit the standard moneyline, point spread and total wagering will be offered on the variety of sporting events. In game or live betting will also be accessible, as will parlays, props and future book wagering.
The maximum wager at a kiosk in a brick and mortar site, where only cash bets will be accepted, is to be set at $250. Online and mobile bet limits are $1,000 but a bettor must be inside a licensed location in order to make an online wager. The maximum payout on a wager is set at $100,000.
State officials report that they’ve received 230 license applications for sports betting sites. Of those, 113 have thus far been issued licenses.
The installation of betting terminals at approved sites will begin the week of March 9. As soon as staff is trained in the operation of these machines, the terminals will be opened for operation, although no timetable has been set for when that might happen.
