2k sports is giving everyone the chance to settle the most recent, heated debate in basketball history. And you have Brooklyn Nets owner/rapper/entrepreneur Jay-Z to thank for it.
Who’s better? The 2012 USA Men’s National Team, or 1992’s Dream Team?
2k Sports has officially entered into a partnership with USA Basketball to feature this year’s gold medal winning USA basketball team and 1992’s dream team, in the next installment of their NBA 2k franchise; NBA 2k13. Jay-Z, who is the game’s executive producer, found it imperative, especially surrounding all of the talk heading into the Olympics, that fans be able to pit the two teams against each other,
“The fantasy matchup between the legendary 1992 ‘Dream Team’ and the 2012 USA Men’s national team has become one of the greatest sports debates of our time,” stated JAY Z, the Executive Producer of NBA 2K13. “In NBA 2K13, we’re giving fans the opportunity to play as two of the best teams ever assembled in sporting history, literally putting the debate right into their hands.”
NBA Star Kevin Durant, who is the cover athlete for this year’s iteration of the game, was a member of the 2012 USA Mens Basketball team. Even he can’t wait to see if his team can compete with what many believe to be the greatest team ever assembled,
“It was an incredible blessing to have been part of the 2012 USA Basketball National Team,” said Durant. “USA Basketball’s National Team legacy is incredible and so many of basketball’s all-time greats have been part of it, I’m just honored to be in that group. Like everybody, I can’t wait to see how our squad stacks up against the 1992 team in NBA 2K13.” (via 2K Sports)
Fans clamoring to start the greatest basketball match-up of all time will only have to wait until October 2nd in North America, and October 5th internationally. NBA 2k13 will be made available for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, PSP, Nintendo Wii, and Windows PC systems.
