If you are ever wondering what it looks like when two behemoths of industry decide to enter into a partnership, look no further than yesterday’s partnership between AEG and eBay Inc. The multi-year partnership, which spans across multiple eBay subsidaries and multiple AEG venues will begin in 2013. eBay’s subsidiary, StubHub, will yet again become the exclusive secondary ticket provider for another venue, as it will be named the exclusive ticketing solution for all AEG venues and AXS Ticketing — AEG’s own ticketing platform that was launched in 2011. StubHub will also become the exclusive secondary partner of the NHL’s LA Kings and MLS’ LA Galaxy beginning in 2013-14, with an eye on European expansion under the deal as well.

PayPal will become a new method of payment for AXS Ticketing, while AEG’s music merchandising company, BandMerch, will open up its catalog of artists’ merchandise to the eBay Marketplace. Both companies will also look to integrate additional assets, over the life of the partnership.

StubHub will also specifically be known as one of the 11 “Founding Partners” of the STAPLES Center, another AEG property, and will receive customized signage and activation components, including signage, in-game branding and an enhanced online presence. As a Founding Partner StubHub will also offer StubHub Fan Rewards to Fan Rewards Members — including seat upgrades, behind-the-scenes tours and VIP opportunities.

eBay’s main subsidiaries include both the aforementioned StubHub and PayPal, along with Magento (an e-commerce platform). AEG, a wholly own subsidiary of the Anschutz Company, owns, or is affiliated with multiple companies including the afore mentioned STAPLES Center, New York’s Best Buy Theater, Shanghai’s Mercedes-Benz Arena, Stockholm’s Ericsson Globe arena and Berlin’s O2 World Arena.
