Tottenham Hotspur: Now on your iPhone
Are you a Tottenham fan who is looking to keep up with your favorite team?
There’s an app for that. (don’t sue me Apple!)
Spurs fans can now follow the quest to break the top four even more closely, after digital sports specialists Perform today announced the arrival of a new ‘cutting-edge’ Tottenham Hotspur iPhone app.
Following in the footsteps of their North London rivals whose Arsenal iPhone app also launched recently, supporters of Harry Redknapp’s boys will be happy to know that their app will be the first Premier League club app to boast live audio commentary. So you can tune into the official live audio stream if you are struggling to make it to the ground or pub in time for kick-off.
The app which is available for both the iPhone and iPod Touch also delivers live scores, match stats, highlights and video interviews, news updates and live match day minute-by-minute text updates.
Perform the company who has signed up to the Spurs mobile app cause, also help deliver content for Spurs TV on the Tottenham Hotspur website, so supporters will be in good hands.
On ramping up the club coverage, Adrian Yearwood, New Media Manager at Tottenham Hotspur said, “This is an exciting evolution in Spurs’ digital offering to our fans. We see the launch of our iPhone application as a further innovative way of providing our fans with the latest up to date content wherever they are and whenever they want it.” (via T3)
This Tottenham app seems very reminiscent of the iPhone app put out by Major League baseball last year, which allows fans to hear the audio of their favorite team, while being able to see a few highlighted games on viewers iPhones. The point with that app, and the Tottenham app is that they allow the fans a closer connection to the teams they love; which is what fans have always been after anyway. Marketers already recognize that there is a demand for team sponsored applications and services, but now they need to use that as a building block as marketing evolves in the digital age.
While this iPhone app is great, I think its what Tottenham and Perform are able to do after this app …that will be the truly impressive feat.
