American Honda Motor Company has signed a multi-faceted marketing agreement with the Barclays Center and the NBA’s newest relocated team; the Brooklyn Nets. The move marks Honda’s first-ever major sponsorship with a sports and entertainment venue on the east coast. Under the marketing agreement, Honda will now be known as the official vehicle of both the Nets and the Barclays Center.
“New York is undeniably an important region for Honda and the alliance with Barclays Center and the Brooklyn Nets is a great fit within our marketing efforts in the Northeast. We couldn’t be more excited to be part of this landmark venue,” said Michael Accavitti, vice president of marketing operations, American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “Barclays Center is an innovative venue that aligns well with the Honda brand and we’re looking forward to being a part of the action and excitement in Brooklyn.”
Under the agreement, Honda has also secured entitlement for one of the clubs in the arena, which will be renamed the Honda Club. Honda will also have numerous interactive displays in the Barclay’s main concourse, and will have a advertising presence at all Barclays Center events (the arena will host numerous other concerts, and college basketball games), as well as exposure on the radio during Nets radio broadcasts.
“We are thrilled that Honda is making such an important statement by selecting Barclays Center as its first-ever major partnership with a sports and entertainment arena on the East Coast,” said Barclays Center and Brooklyn Nets CEO Brett Yormark. “Honda is one of the most respected automobile companies in the world and we are delighted that it sees the value and exposure opportunities of forming a partnership with Barclays Center, one of the most anticipated venues in the country. Barclays Center and the Brooklyn Nets are proud to drive forward with such a world-class automobile company as we continue to bring top brands to Brooklyn.” (via Press Release)
The Barclays Center opens on September 28th.
